BARNETT COLLECTION

Terry Barnett (kntbarnetts@yahoo.com) is a long-time FODS who was so anxious to share his photo treasures with the rest of the FODS nation that he brought a briefcase bulging with photographs and clippings to the Piqua Mall Car Show where he tracked me down in the DSL booth.  And I scanned his treasures right then and there!

          Thanks, Terry!

(Above) Central States Racing Association (CSRA) official Harry Gilchrist (right, with checkered jacket) goes over the rules and regulations at a drivers' meeting before a Dayton Speedway event.  Harry was among the most influential and powerful men in early auto racing.  His authority and ability to control unruly drivers and owners should be obvious from the the formal portrait below.
