SUPPORTERS OF AUTO RACING...

In 2008, the Dayton Auto Race Fans Club celebrates its 40th anniversary.  The club, which currently boasts over 500 members, had its roots in Dayton Speeday activities.  As the story goes, well known Dayton racing personality Dale "Lucky" Lutz was behind the formation of DARF.  When the USAC Sprint Car division was scheduled to compete at Dayton Speedway they would frequently send a driver to Dayton to help publicize the event with newspapers, radio, and television.  Once Lutz knew which driver was coming to Dayton, Lutz would corral the driver and convince him to schedule an evening talking with local race fans at some local watering hole.  Then Lutz would get on the telephone and start calling all his auto racing buddies (and he had many) to tell them about the impromptu fan meeting he'd scheduled.
In time, Lutz and his friends decided that they ought to get a little more organized, and DARF was formally incorporated in 1968.  The club logo, shown above, represents the view from the Dayton Speedway's old covered grandstand.

There are many benefits to becoming a DARF club member, not the least of which is free or reduced admission to racing events at a variety of speedways.  Annual membership fees are still a very modest $15 for single members and $20 for couples.

The DARF logo below, designed and executed by Dayton artist Ron Titus, is also currently used by the club.  Both emblems are the property of Dayton Auto Race Fans, Inc. and may not be used or reproduced with the expressed permission of the club.
